Message	In reality they could probably make a profit off of it even at half the current price. They will lower the price until marginal cost = marginal revenue. The only reason the part would be discontinued is if demand fell below a certain level, or if another producer found a cheaper way to produce the item. Both of these are probable given the state of our cars, but if the part was discontinued it would not be strictly because of new competition.
